Gourmet food market in Montreal

Hi everyone,

I have been reading your comments about restaurants in Montreal. Has anyone visited the Atwater market? If you love food, you have to try the market. A bakery with divine fresh bread (different kinds and special breads) and deserts, a cheese store with 100's of different cheese from local to imported, fresh fruit and vegetables, pates, a store with any kind of exotic ingredient you can imagine, gourmet oils and vinegar, jams, jellies...and on and on...it's a gourmet lover's delight.

I have to be honest, we have a B&B located about a 10 min walk from the market. I shop at the market about 4-5 times a week for our B&B.

I am not advertising our B&B, just wanted to advise you that the market is amazing. We love our food and this is a "must go". Plus, there is a restaurant called the San Menu located on Notre Dame street, not far from the market. It's a french bistro and local favorite. Fabulous food and service and great atmosphere.

Another great market is the Jean Talon market located north of downtown. Another fabulous market Give these places a try on your next visit to Montreal. The two markets are where the locals shop and if you know the locals of Montreal, you know we love our food!
