    1. Cafe Europe (diagonally across the street) is our go-to before Carnegie Hall. Not the takeout sandwich part, but the sit down informal restaurant. Menu not available online, but quite affordable and you can have a glass (or bottle) of wine with dinner if you'd like. Pastas, salads, panini, crepes.

There's a Thai restaurant on 56th Street right by the stage door. Can't remember the name but it's also quite good.

I think the Thai place you're thinking of is Topaz

Cafe Europe for salad and wine sounds like a good plan!

              By walking?

It's less than a 10 minute walk. Trust me. Done it.

            1. We ended up in Brooklyn Diner. One of the people in our party thought that Cafe Europa was serve yourself and that was vetoed.
Thanks for all the great recs.

Grrrrrr!!!!!! That person in your party is wrong! Some Europa Cafes are serve yourself only. This one has waiter sit down service in addition to the take out.

You'd have spent a lot less money than at Brooklyn Diner and have had better food.

As I wrote in my original response to you, this Cafe Europa has sit down service. And a different menu with that service.

And yet another reminder of why I value and should trust my CH pals over all others!

We don't always have control over the other members of our parties. Especially the know-it-alls!
