Vallejo lunch recommendation?

ola Apr 16, 2014 01:38 PM

Except for Michael Waring, all the links seem to be pre-2010. Are there any good lunch places in Vallejo?

My last post on Dillon Bread Co. was in 2012. I really liked the grilled cheese and the jalapeno corn bread.

It looks good but I would like something a bit more upscale.

I guess that lets out Sac's for chili dogs.
I'm not sure but I think "upscale in Vallejo" qualifies as an oxymoron.

I had lunch at Gracie's BBQ last summer. Not upscale, but pleasant enough. I thought the potato salad was gross (raisins!), but the meat was okay. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but it's fine in a pinch and the neighborhood's okay.

Some of the taco trucks are not bad. There is one in the furniture store parking lot on Sonoma Blv. near the center with Raleys. There is an even better one downtown but in a very sketchy area.

Bud's Burger. Complete greasy spoon dive but they still fry their fries in beef tallow. Oh wait, you mean a nice place...

Won't help OP but I'll pile on on the cheap side. I have my eye on Baldo's- SoCal style taqueria- burritos with meat, guac and pico de gallo; California burritos; carne asada fries.

One day I'll compare them back-to-back with Adalberto's further up the road in Fairfield.
