The best source of macaroons I know is Fralinger's, on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City NJ. They are online and also will send you a hard-copy catalog. Fralinger's offers both coconut and almond macaroons. I have had only the almond, which arrive large, soft, fresh, almondy-tasting, and wonderful, each in its own sealed package so they can be conveniently frozen. I find almond macaroons hard to find at American bakeries and the imported-from-Italy ones are usually as hard as rocks.
