Will be visiting Montreal with my spouse for 4 days next weekend (Thurs through Sunday) for an entire romantic weekend without chidren.
Would like to go out to a number of nice medium priced restaurants (not at the level of Toque which I understand is north of $ 110 for its tasting menu), some with table d'hote.

Any recommendations?

What about Le P'tit Plateau, Le Bleu Raisin and Les Infidèles? LPP gets my vote as not only the best BYOB in town but one of the best purveyors of bistro cooking (in this instance, southwest French) period. For what it's worth, the Gazette's Lesley Chesterman rates Les Infidèles three stars, the only BYOB accorded that accolade. Of the four you list, the only one I'd have no reservations about (and wish I had reservations at!) is Christophe. La Colombe is good but inconsistent. Yoyo often lacks spark and sparkle. And Le Puy du Fou is just not quite in the same league. Don't get me wrong: I like and patronize all of them (along with a few others like Le Poisson Rouge, Les Rites Berbères and Le Piton de la Founaise). But calling them the top four is, well, debatable.

Just returned from Montreal.
Tried Bleu Raisin (excellent) and Les Infideles (slightly better than good).
At the Bleu Raisin, the variety of tastes and flavours was great and ambience (we had a timely and romantic power outage during our meal) made this a truly memorable meal. We started with the foie gras (what French meal is complete without it?) and caribou dumplings. The remainder of the meal was excellent including the desserts. Definitely worth a visit and advance reservations are a must.

Les Infideles was lively and a great ambience. The meal was good but not great. We started with the fresh, live scallops, mussels in a light cream sauce (pernod), the hosue soup (included), and I had rack of lamb (not the best flavour but juicy and moist), my partner had the deer liver (ok but lacking the tenderness of say calves liver).
Dessert was the pear/chocolate cake which was light and a great way to finish the meal.

I always sing the praises of Au Petit Extra (on Ontario Est) to anyone who listens. My favorite French bistro-style resto in Montreal, delicious food at reasonable prices ($15-20 CAN per main course), a homey and charming atmosphere and not too much bustle (although the tables are closely spaced together). A table for 2 by the window is quite romantic IMO. I've had duck confit, veal, and fish dishes there and have never been less than completely impressed. Decent and reasonable wine list too.

My favourite, and a consistently high performer is Les Heritiers (corner of Laurier & Lanaudiere). Better than Chesterman's highly regarded Les Infidèles. Reservations usually required, but chances of getting in a short notice are quite good.

Finally! Someone who appreciates Les Heritiers as much as we do! We come from the US every anniversary to go to Les Heritiers! The staff is so warm and welcoming and a nice corner table makes it a very romantic (and delicious) evening!
