Caribbean babymoon - hotel/resort recommendations? Need great food!

  • 7

Planning a June/July beach babymoon and would love recommendations for Carribbean hotels or resorts with great food. Also trying to go somewhere with a direct flight from where we live, so that means our list of preferred destinations is:

Bermuda
Dominican Republic
Grand Cayman
Jamaica
Bahamas

This isn't a trip for doing a lot of foodie exploring - it's really about finding a nice hotel where we can be lazy on the beach, get excellent service, and enjoy fresh, good food for three meals a day (plus snacks). I know it may not be the perfect part of the world for amazing dining, but if any fellow Chowhounders have stayed somewhere great with great food, I'd love to know about it!

  1. The difference between Grand Cayman and the other places you listed (except for Bermuda) is that in Grand Cayman you are not confined to your hotel. The island is very safe so it gives you the ability to go to every good restaurant on the island. Most of the good restaurants are on Seven Mile Beach or less than a 10 minute drive away. If you stay at the Ritz-Carlton or if you are more budget minded, the Westin you will be able to enjoy a great dining experience. You can look at my other posts to see my dining recommendations.

If you are looking for amazing dining you can go to Blue at the Ritz-Carlton.

    1. If Bermuda, do the MAP at The Reefs. AMAZING property in all regards. I am a 7 time repeater.

      1. I second The Reefs. I live in Bermuda and I go there for staycations with friends – it is the perfect place to be lazy - on the beach, around the pool, at the spa – and the food has improved a lot - it got a bit wobbly for a while there.

        1. Bermuda is likely to be more comfortable in June/July. Most of the Caribbean is scorching in the summer, although I love it year around.

          1. Ok, I'm old, I'm outta touch................but.............what is a "babymoon"? Are you going to make one or going to take one?

About as interesting as the new "baby-reveal" showers that ppl have these days....talk about too much information (and what happens if the crème filling comes out purple?)
