Ran vinegar through my Keurig coffee maker and can't get rid of the smell

  • 6

I cleaned my Keurig with white vinegar per the instructions. I rinsed the reservoir and have run a couple of reservoirs of plain water through, but I still smell vinegar and the milk curdles. What am I missing?

  1. Keep running it- it takes a while.
I need to scale my Keurig- it's been a while.

    1. forget the 2-3 rinses they suggest.....had to rinse mine at least 10 times !!

Thanks. Next time I'll try carburetor cleaner. Do they still make that?

4-5 rinses usually works for us. YMMV

That's why I descale with citric acid

          2. FYI check your reservoir tank very carefully as well. We bought my mother in law one a few years ago. And while she cleaned the machine and would stick the reservoir tank into her dish washer from time to time, mold still formed in the tank by the floater, fill indicator. There are some crevices in there that I guess because of shape of the reservoir make it difficult for a dish washer to properly clean, it was pretty gross and filled with mold when I discovered it.
