dim sum in Rochester

I've heard rumblings that someplace in Rochester now serves dim sum that's on par with what you'd find in Toronto or San Francisco. Would love to check it out. Which restaurant might this be? Thanks.

  1. cantonese house, we were there last year during a school tour, surprisingly good for rochster but I don't think it's even on par with nyc. Still, a pleasant way to spend the morning. It was very inexpensive, I recall about 1/2 the price of manhattan dim sum. I think our other meal was at dinosaur bbq which was fun.

sorry, just re-read your post, you said "now serves" which indicates a new (or improved) restaurant, cantonese house looked like it had been around for a long time....

    1. Heart be still! Can this be true?

My remaining time as a snowbird is measured in mere hours and the cuisine I'm going to miss the most when I'm home in Rochester is Chinese, especially dim sum. Do you have any more concrete information? The name of a suburb? The section of the city? Anything?

And while we're on the subject of world class Asian food, I'm happy to report that there's a Thai restaurant in city center that serves some of the finest Thai food I've ever eaten in the US. No over-sweetened glop. Just perfectly cooked vegetables and protein with a nice balance of sour, salty, sweet, and hot. The name of this marvelous place is Shui Asian Fusion (corner of University and Main Street).
