Malacca, Malaysia - Best "Kueh Keria" (Malay cassava donuts) from Haji Jalil in Limbongan

"Kueh keria" is an absolutely delicious Malay donut made from mashed cassava and wheat flour, rolled in melted palm sugar syrup which, when it solidifies, forms a thick sweet coating around the donut.

The best-known "kueh keria" spot in Malaysia is "Haji Jalil's Kueh Keria" in Limbongan, a district in the historic city of Malacca.

When eaten warm, Haji Jalil's "kueh keria" were crisp on the outside, and deliciously moist on the inside. Haji Jalil's version trumps its rivals and copycat clones nearby with its high content of mashed cassava, giving it a more distinct flavour.

Lau - compare the size of a "kueh keria" to its Western cousin, the donut. And finally made it to Haji Jalil's "kueh keria" shop :-)
