Pronto begets a Prontino

Pronto in Cambie Village is expanding next door. Work is still being done and by the looks of it they're prolly at least a month if not more from opening the expanded (south) space. I'm guessing with the signage "Prontino" over the new space that it'll be a either cafe-only, or possibly a take-out/express section.

  1. Interestingly, a new Subway (sigh) just opened where the Blenz was beside Shoppers Drug Mart.

    1. Cambie Street really needs a good Italian/pizza joint don't you think?

Technically Unforgettable is off of Cambie, on 8th. But I know what you mean.

And I think what QC meant is for Cambie Village. And it hadn't occurred to me that perhaps Prontino would (crossing finger) would be a pizzeria. Are you hinting/prophesying ?

BUT let's not forget the formidable Firewood Pizza at 14th. Still as good as ever, but prices have crept up.

Steveston Pizza which is a mere stone's throw away from Firewood leaves much to be desired IMHO.

And Flying Wedge, now in a more compact "market corrected" space, maybe ok for the occasional slice when I'm in a poor student state of mind, but it ain't thin crust, not brick oven and way too much toppings.

Steveston Pizza has been gone for ages.

I have no idea what Prontino will be, and I'm definitely not prophesying! only wishful thinking. I HOPE it's going to be a reasonably-priced, pizza/pasta neighbourhood joint. Hell, maybe we could convince the Community Pizza truck to stop by once a week (ps I'll be trying it this Saturday outside 33 Acres - Ontario and 8th - sounds very promising).

And I agree about Flying Wedge - not a fan of the herb crust.

          2. It's going to be a bar with some food. Like Pronto the design is by the folks that brought you Les Faux Bourgeois.
(Note I said the design, not the concept or ownership.)

            1. Just opened, a bar/tapas space that is closet-sized, with 4 micro booths along one wall (each booth seats what looks like two tiny people), about half dozen bar stools along the bar, and about 2 small round tables by the window.
