Barnacle Bill's sells the local oyster variety during happy hour. These do not taste like the briny varieties from cold water in the Atlantic and Pacific. At the Main Street branch in Sarasota, the oysters were expertly shucked. The issues we had when eating oysters there recently had to do with service not the quality of the food.

Captain Curt's on Siesta Key is a popular place for raw oysters and other cooked seafood dishes. No personal experience.

Incidentally, the local oysters fry up nicely even if they are a bit bland when eaten raw. We had fried oysters at Walt's (S. Tamiami) last night and the oysters themselves stayed soft and moist after frying.
