Pho Bambou, Anyone Been?
The closure of Trader Joe's on Santa Monica/Poinsettia has totally changed my weekly errand route, and I'm now spending lots more time in WeHo. Aside from the constant reminders that I must visit Connie and Ted's soon, I'm seeing lots of places I've never heard of. Always on a quest for a Better Banh Mi Closer to Me, and drove by "Bambou le Pho" today. They do have a couple of banh mi on the menu. Anyone?
And while we're at it, what else should be on my WeHo lunchtime list, besides Five Guys, Pinche's, Carney's, and Vito's? Is there a good egg salad sandwich somewhere? (Not Greenblatt's, I find their's bland).
I just powered down a pork banh mi from this place. It was super tasty but not "traditional." Slabs of grilled pork instead of cured stuff. No pâte available. Veggies were all right on, though, and veggie-to-meat and -jalapeño ratios were good. Came with a sweet/spicy dipping sauce. I got it to pick up, but the place was nice, staff was friendly, and the smells were good.
Only bummer is the price: $8.17 out the door. That's WeHo for ya.
