I will be in Karachi and Islamabad, where are the best cafes/food
I am traveling to Pakistan. Which cities should I had to for the best food and sight seeing?
I was in Islamabad in Feb 2014 - great food, albeit pretty rich and greasy. The grilled, spiced mutton there were marvellous.
My top 3 places to eat in Islamabad are:
#1 - Andaaz, Saidpur Road. Best restaurant in town! Absolutely do *not* miss the "Pasanda Kabab"
#2 - Dumpukht at the Marriott, Aga Khan Road, Shalimar 5. Best dish is the "Chilman Biryani" - unforgettable.
#3 - Bar-B-Q Tonight, Sohrab Plaza, Jinnah Ave, Islamabad 44000. It's not just barbecued kababs and deliciously-spiced meats but the works! Do not miss the exquisitely-spiced mutton ribs.
If you do have a weekend in Islamabad - do go to Monal for breakfast/brunch. Set amidst the pristine Margalla Hills, the views are stupendous.
I've not been back to Karachi for a few years, so cannot comment on the dining scene there - but it's more bustling and commercialised compared to Islamabad. In fact, you can check out Bar-B-Q Tonight's Karachi branch since this wonderful chain originates from there.
