What do you feel is missing from the menu? What do you suggest they serve that would not "bore you to tears"?
It looks more sophisticated than what I would expect to see if they were trying to appeal to "busloads of tourists". The prices are typical of upscale Manhattan restaurants.
This is the best news I've heard in a long time. I'm actually surprised this is the first I'm hearing of the re-opening. Tavern in it's later years became nothing more than an ala' carte banquette facility, there was nothing special about the food, it was mass produced and nothing to take note of. However, there was NO PLACE in the world to dine during the holidays than Tavern. The entire place turned into a winter/Christmas wonderland and I have soooo many happy memories of taking my kids there every holiday season.
Their lobster bisque was about the best I've ever had and it has been the inspiration for my own.
I look forward to bringing the family back. Happy News, although I don't see lobster bisque on their new menu.
It opened last night--did anyone go? I have reservations on May 13 and would love to get your thoughts.
