Songkran celebrations (plural) in Queens, 2014

Sunday, April 13, will be the occasion of the annual celebration at Wat Buddha Thai in Elmhurst. This older thread...

...provides the time, the address, and some guidance for visitors. Several similar events are slated for that weekend; I'll provide details, as available, in my blog's weekly roundup of food-friendly events.

Another Songkran celebration, I've discovered, will be held this coming Sunday, April 6, at P.S. 11, 54-25 Skillman Ave., Woodside, Queens. As best as I can divine from this Facebook post...

...the celebration will begin at 12:00 noon. I've been to one similar event at P.S. 11, which took place in both the auditorium and the cafeteria, and spilled out into the adjoining hallway; the setting is more cramped than at Wat Buddha Thai, and less exotic. That said, the usual advice for Chowhounds -- approach this event respectfully rather than as a food free-for-all -- still holds true.

Dave, you went to the Cambodian celebration a couple of years ago, correct? Something similar this year too?

Cambodian and Burmese both (in separate locations). Norwegian, Garifunan, maybe Bengali next weekend, too.

Dave, do you have any information on the next Indesian Food Bazaar at Masjid? I checked the Mosque's website and called, but haven't been able to find out anything. Thanks. Claudia
