Oysters with Lunch in Berkeley or Oakland

The Dive Apr 4, 2014 11:24 PM

Trying to think of a place to get some oysters with lunch tomorrow (Saturday) in Oakland or Berkeley. Already thought of Cafe Rouge, but I really wish to recreate old lunches outside at the old Sea Salt if possible. Any other thoughts?

I'm a fan of the steamed oysters at Chef Lau's in Oakland Chinatown and last had some plump examples about 2 years ago. Choice of ginger or black bean sauce. The price now might be about $9 for a plate of a half-dozen or so, usually very fresh.

    Chef Lau's
301 8th Street (on southwest corner of Harrison and 8th Streets)
    Oakland, CA

Bocanova, Chop Bar, and Toast have outdoor seating and oysters. So does Assemble in Richmond.

Thanks - I forgot about Bocanova.

I haven't been too keen on Toast's food or wine selections.

I wasn't sure about Assemble based on Luke Tsai's lackluster review in the EBE. I suppose today might be a good time to try it out.

        Doesn't Brotzeit Lokal have oysters?

Not on this Saturday when I was there -- it looks like it may be more of a Happy Hour special during the week.

Luka's Taproom, but no outside seating.

I think Hopscotch might do oysters with lunch.

And they have a couple of tables on the sidewalk, though that block has too many hoboes for me to sit there.
