Manhattan Hound Looking for Mid-Week Breakfast Recommendations Near Rittenhouse Square

I'm coming to Philadelphia Thursday-Friday. Having dinner at Serpico, and am looking for a better alternative to my hotel restaurant for breakfast. My hotel is near Rittenhouse Square. Would love to find something within a 5 block walk. Thanks very much for your recommendations!

  1. I believe a.kitchen does breakfast. The restaurant was taken over by Eli Kulp & Co who recently won a best new chef award from F&W.

    1. Parc does a decent breakfast right on Rittenhouse Square. French bistro, and with good weather you can even dine al fresco overlooking the square.

. For a decent take on jewish Deli you might go to the Famous 4th street Deli which is on 19th Street.

For a light breakfast you might enjoy Spread bagels, which are Montreal style bagels 260 S 20th. They serve decent coffee, and have breakfast sandwiches in addition to bagels.

Coffee/coffee house light breakfast you have La Colombe, Joes, and Ellixir all within walking distance where you can get a good to great pour over and a pastry to go with it.

      1. Parc is best for breakfast those days - great scene, delicious oatmeal too.

One other fun place is Dandelion if you want to try an upscale, hipster version of British breakfast.

I like the breakfast at Dandelion, too, in fact better than Parc. I wouldn't characterize it as hipster... more high-concept.

Yeah not sure what he meant by hipster. The blood sausage is great.

Looks like Dandelion doesn't open until later in the morning. Parc looks fine. Thanks for the recommendation.

Parc's great. Especially the bread basket.

Do you know whether I'll need a reservation at 9:00 a.m.?

          3. Turns out that thanks to AMEX I have $30 breakfast credit. Will have breakfast at Lacroix. Did walk over to Parc, and the breakfast menu does look nice. Will try it next time. Thanks for all the replies.

I was just going to recommend Lacroix.

Too bad you are not visiting over a weekend as Lacroix's brunch is one of the best in Philly IMHO.

Weekday breakfast was lovely at Lacroix. Egg white omelette with a choice of half dozen cheeses and half dozen veggies was lovely. La Colombe coffee (which is their standard) is now my favorite. Orange and grapefruit segments were very refreshing. Mini pain au chocolat was a perfect dessert (didn't feel to guilty). Service was very friendly and attentive. The view overlooking Rittenhouse Square was gorgeous. Nothing exotic on the menu; simply standard breakfast fare executed extremely well.
