I got these at Aqui es Texcoco in Commerce. Just enough lettuce and sour cream; the focus is on the lamb barbecue inside.
Added a bunch of the hot sauces and it was all good.

This place just opened up a couple of weeks ago. Has anyone tried it?

  1. Don't get to Commerce and don't eat lamb but those sure look good. Sort of like all the "rolled taco" places in San Diego. Might have to take a drive.

      I think it's worth it.
They just opened up, and the other shop is way down in San Diego.
      The drive might be easier!

    2. If it's the same AET as the one in San Diego, I've had their barbacoa and it's great.

Edit: looks like it is a new branch of the San Diego restaurant. Good call NeverEnough!

Yeah! They expanded from San Diego.
People were clamoring for that I think.

      2. What is the difference between flautas & taquitos? They look very similar.

Okay, I knew that part of it... That's the only difference? They appear to both be fried....

The other differences (nothing too earth shattering) are outlined in the linked website.

By which definition (and I agree), these appear to be taquitos.

I agree. From the photo I would think taquitos, too. But in the final analysis the two factors that are most important to me are; corn or flour and delicious, or not.

I'd add a third factor: guacamole or, preferably, green avocado sauce. Lack of which on these concerns me greatly.

I never knew this was so complicated. haha!
I just add sauce and enjoy.
Oh, I think they do have a serve-yourself green avocado sauce.

          2. YES!!!! These appear to be as good as the ones in their San Diego branch... :DDD Just amazing flautas and consume and tacos...

SO glad they are open here in L.A., I'm planning a dinner there for my Birthday, that is how I much I love this place! :DD

BTW, those who don't like Lamb, Aqui es Texcoco will make you a convert.. Mexican Barbacoa Lamb is just amazing...

Here I was....blissfully ignorant of this place and then I read Dommy's post. I found their website (which doesn't mention their latest outpost here in southern California, yet). Sounds very authentic and probably very good. http://www.aquiestexcoco.com/

I don't think anyone has posted the address of the new place in Commerce. Found Bill Esparza's article about it with the address. http://www.lamag.com/lafood/digestblo...

If you go to the website and click on the "contact us" link it shows all 3 locations (Los Angeles, Chula Vista and Tijuana): http://www.aquiestexcoco.com/contact-us/

It is very.very.very. good. That family is wonderful too! So happy for their success because they could have opened up a generic mexi-fast place and done fine, but they could not abide by that shammery (They are all ABOUT the pride of their product).

Commerce is not perhaps the 'ideal' location, but they will do well there. Plus it gives you an excuse to do some shopping at the citadel (new outfit! new le crueset!!!!)

                2. I do like lamb, and those flautas look very, very good. Thanks for the report.
