Top Chef Estrellas

  • 2

I stumbled on this on Uverse On Demand, apparently a Telemundo show. It's a Top Chef spinoff with Latin celebrities I don't understand a word and Lorena Garcia (as a judge) is the only person I recognize, but they have a lot more fun than the celebrity cooking stuff we get on US networks.

"Estrellas" means "Stars" in Spanish, meaning that all the contestants were Hispanic stars in some way; TV personalities, singers, etc (and apparently a sex advice doctor ala Dr Ruth).

It was in no way similar to the American Top Chef as none of the contestants had any real culinary background; some were just better home cooks, and it showed in the simplicity of the recipes, and that the judges gave advice as to making the recipes more interesting or well balanced, or even how to cook them at all.

I thought it was fun; though Telanovelas had nothing on the women (or men for that matter) with the outrageously revealing clothing...
