Best cupcakes in vancouver

I'm craving a cupcake. A good one, not the dry things at Cupcakes. Any recs?

  1. I'm not a fan of cupcakes in general (too dry, to sugary-sweet or tasting of fake food colouring) but I really like the ones from Edible Flours on Broadway - between Vine and Yew (next to London Drugs).

    They have a limited selection on hand and they vary by day. My faves are the mocha, chocolate PB and chocolate hazelnut ones.

      But I admit I like Katie's Cupcakes in Bellingham (Fairhaven District). Frosting still sweet but the cake is moist.

      And the ones at Whole Foods are good too.

      OK, I dabble in them occasionally, there I said it.

          I recall tasting the buffalo wing cupcake at a consumer show (home show?) about a year ago. It was pretty good, with a reasonable crumb and quite lovely moist texture; but NOT gloppy!

            I'm quite keen on trying the Tequila Pineapple, Whisky Lime, King Kong and Rum & Coke.

            Wished they have a bacon maple walnut topped on a banana nut cupcake or something ......

              I tried a bunch of mini-Mancakes at Pete's Meat a couple years back, well before they opened their bricks and mortar of course. I thought they were decent, maybe a bit heavy. Congrats to them on their expansion and I'd love to hear more and more recent reports.

                I had some Mancakes last weekend. They were ok... but on the sweeter side. There were some decent ones (Whisky Lime and Red Wine Chocolate) and some big misses (the seasonal Pizza flavour). I thought the cake was decently moist... though I'm comparing with the average dry and over-sweet cupcake in Vancouver.
