Went today. Neat space, great back patio (when they stop the construction noise next door), plenty of parking in back. Just as good as the original.

Place was P-A-C-K-E-D by the time I left.

  1. hey what time did you arrive? Related note, we checked out pinthouse a couple Saturdays ago and enjoyed the veggie pizza, a nice hefe weizen, and a couple of those pizza rolls. Dug it all in all even if it's not the best pizza I've ever had.

Got there around 11 and left around 11:40. Sat on the back porch.

You know, the first time I went to Pinthouse, I was very unimpressed. A few weeks ago, hubs and I were trying to find a patio - any patio - that wasn't overflowing and ended up there and we found the pizza quite good. I think they do better with the smalls than the large. Sat out front at the picnic tables and had a great time. I think the construction noises I heard today are them following NP's idea by putting some seating in back...I hope so.

    2. Went back again for breakfast this morning. Had the ham and egg sandwich. Finally! Nice, fluffy, moist eggs that aren't overcooked. Very nice $5 breakfast.

I had breakfast at the old location a few times. Very good stuff but the portions were outrageously small. Not being greedy but two breakfasts equal like one at a normal, even a European, restaurant. I do have to say though that they had the decency to make it cheap.

The portion size has always been enough for me, but I'm also a woman who usually has to box half her meal to go... I did learn today that you get an entire waffle when you order it a la carte for $3ish (as opposed to the half waffle when you get the blueberry version).

      2. Dropped by on Thursday about 2:10. When I went to order, they told me that there was about a 40 minute wait, and they close at 3.

I guess I'll wait for a while and try again. Looked like a nice place and the backlog was not for the lack of trying. The kitchen was filled with folks up to their elbows in sandwich making. Just a lot of business.

        1. We had breakfast there yesterday. I got a really large bowl of amazing, buttery grits with a generous chunk of ham hock and a fried egg on top. Delicious. My husband got biscuits and gravy, which comes with a chunk of sausage and an egg cooked to order (default is scrambled). Was very impressed with both. Oh, and we also tried their version of a cronut, a lemon-curd filled "dossant," which was TO DIE FOR.

We arrived at 9:00a-ish and there were only a 3-4 people in line ahead of us, but the woman at the register seemed to be in training, so it took a long time to get to the front. We are so excited they are in our 'hood and will be back for sure. Can't wait to try them for lunch.

They've expanded the breakfast menu, old location has a much more limited offering.

            1. re: Rptrane

What is on their expanded breakfast menu?

            2. re: Optimista

Ah-ha! I oogled your meals as I went by. We were the couple at the next table over. We were almost done when you came in.

              1. re: amysuehere

What?!? Small world! Were you the folks with the kids?

                1. re: Optimista

Hehe. Go ahead, Rudeboy. I know you want to...

Nope we were the couple sitting at the middle table by ourselves. There was the family with lots of kids by the front window, then there were the two couples with the new baby, then us.

Ha, I know you too well, Amysuehere! Maybe I'll bring my kids next time so you can enjoy them AT the table. My son is 3.7 right now, so he's no longer throwing food about.

                    1. re: rudeboy

Food, tantrums. It's all good. I can NOT believe it's been over 4 years since we last had lunch. Time flies.

                      Reminds me of this:

You were paying much closer attention to your surroundings than I was! I noticed the family with lots of kids because they were right next to us, but that's it. We were sitting at the table right next to the front window, and they pretty much blocked our view of the rest of the restaurant. A friend of mine and his daughter came by and sat with us for a bit while they were waiting for their to-go order, which distracted me for part of the time, too. Would've loved to meet you!

                      1. re: Optimista

We were actually walking out just as you received your food, which looked yummy, btw.

Hopefully, we can figure a meet-up soon.

                        1. re: amysuehere

That would be awesome! Perhaps next time, I'll shower beforehand. ;)

              2. Went there for lunch Friday after procrastinating for more than a year to try the old place. Still a lot of construction next door. The food was excellent and I will surely be going back.

                1. Tasted the grits and ham and I thought it was good but super salty from the ham. The potatoes they served with the food wasn't nearly hot enough. The chocolate marshmallow cookie was outstanding though.

                  1. Still have not made it for lunch but I had breakfast there last week. At 0800 there were only a couple of customers. I had the ham hock and grits. They mix the two. It did not seem excessively salty to me but the cure in the ham hocks is somewhat sweet and gave up some of the sweetness to the grits. Not to my taste but then I don't like sweet corn bread either. All in all, good breakfast. I'll be back to explore the menu some more.

                    1. One of the owners told me yesterday that they have a liquor license pending for Burnet Rd and as soon as it is approved they will be staying open later.

I heard this too, but I think by "later" they mean 7:00ish, and they don't intend to have the full sandwich menu that late.
