Steamboat Springs CO?

Hi Hounds,

The boyfriend and I are heading to Steamboat Springs this weekend for a little get away (yay!) I've not seen any exciting food when looking at various reviews and most of what I have found on CH is verrry old. Any updates or recommendations?

  1. I haven't been to Steamboat in a long time, but on another forum (a ski forum) I saw Mahogany Ridge recommended, as well as the Laundry and the Oar House.

    1. I tried Rex Grill a couple of weeks ago based on Yelp reviews. Don't bother.

RobynS, what was wrong with it? i'm finding these Yelp reviews to be very off. I understand that everyone's experience will be different but some of these reviews are waaay off. Many in the Mt towns as well.

So I ordered the baked mac and cheese and a side of grilled asparagus. The mac and cheese was more like an oddly thick bechamel sauce with some cheese but not much flavor. It had tomatoes and bacon but not enough to really add flavor. The grilled asparagus was served swimming in this weird buttery/oily sauce that was separating and too salty. And I love salt.

I've found the Colorado reviews in general are very suspect in that the general coloradan is probably not who you want making your dining decisions. It's changing, but it heavily skews the review sites here. My two cents as a recent transplant.

        2. We ended up at The Truffle Pig. It was tasty bit overpriced. We read poor reviews about service but we had a good experience.
