Monday lunch in Rockland County (or northern NJ?)

I need to take my dad and stepmom out for lunch on a Monday, and would welcome suggestions! Both good food and not too noisy, as we need to talk a bit of family biz (e.g., if something happens to your health, where do you want to be housed aside from the house with endless stairs?). They are in Nyack - happy to drive a bit.

With appreciation,

  1. There are a lot of great places in Nyack, and I'm sure you'll hear from other people with ideas for there.

In Nanuet, I really liked Fortune Garden. It's in the little shopping center next to the Midas dealer. Delicious Chinese food.

In New City, there is a small shopping center with quite a few restaurants, several of which looked really promising to me. I keep going to Wasabi Grill, though. There's also a Kabob place, and what looked like a vegetarian restaurant, and at least a couple others.

Wasabi in Nyack (same owners as Wasabi Grill) is lovely but a bit pricey. Not overpriced, but maybe more than you want to spend for lunch.

I've always wanted to try Alain's French Bistro in Nyack, but I can't give you a personal report. It is open on Mondays.

I think Wasabi Grill in New City is closed. Also there is a new Mexican place in that same strip mall which I enjoyed this past Monday lunchtime. Very fresh with great Mole.

I thought I was there more recently, but I sort of lost last summer.

Guess it's time to try the other restaurants in that center!

    2. Alain's Bistro in Nyack does a lovely lunch. I work in the area, and it is my go-to place for a nicer meal on Mondays.

      1. Thanks for the good idea. Alain's is one of their faves. Good idea, tho' now that I think of it, might see if his new tapas place is open for lunch :-)

The new tapas place is not (yet?) open for lunch--I was going to mention it in my earlier post, but checked first.
