Katsuhama 55th St -- downhill alert?

Went there for an early dinner as it was convenient to where we were at the time...i'd been there and to the 47th St branch (3+ years ago?) and remember it being at least solid...

This time, not so much...soggy batter on the pork, oversalty miso soup...the two waiters were friendly, hardworking Middle-eastern guys who were rushing around to take orders, bus tables, etc...there were two Japanese girls (managers? hostesses?) who seemed to be doing absolutely nothing, not helping out in any way...an odd, off vibe to whole operation...

And...the place smelled bad: like disinfectant mixed with rancid oil...

When we left we felt like we took one for the team...won't be back, at least not to this branch...

  1. I've never been to the 55th street branch, but a recent trip a month ago to the 47th street branch was very good.

    1. Was there ever an uphill alert?
