Dignified Indian Dining

At last! Enjoyed a meal at the stately Maharaja on JFK Street. Service was regal, the atmosphere ornate, and the food superb. Excellent, potent lamb vindaloo, savory onion kulcha, and a silky saffron scallops. Highly recommend.

  1. I'll have to try it again, as my meal there was horrible and the place was a mess. Granted, it was about a year ago, so maybe things are under new management. I'm glad to hear that everything was so superb and will give it another try.

    1. I'm glad for the recommendation; I'd heard good things about this place in the neighborhood but have been mourning the loss of Tamarind Bay all year (such fine shahi baigan!) and have worried that heading to Maharaja would be a sort of betrayal. It sounds like it's time to pay a visit, though...

      1. swank, this is where Tamar.Bay was?sorry- i found it. yes, same loca.

TB was across the street, to the east; Maharaja is on the 2nd floor of the two-story building that has Wagamama on level 1 (it's directly across the hall from the blessed Kaju Tofu House)

Maharajah is in the former Bombay Club.

do you know if the food has improved since they opened? in any case, i will have to give it a try; the Indian restaurants on Mass Ave are not very good.
