Epic Birthday Brunch?

Celebrating a milestone birthday, and I want to do it with an epic childless brunch (I have a 2-year-old, and all my friends have kids of similar age). Any suggestions? The operative word is EPIC; we'll probably be about 10-15 people. Looking for something less chaotic than Le Cartet, more posh than the Burgundy Lion. Any suggestions?

  1. Au pied de cochon? They're still doing their brunch on sunday I think?

They are, and I almost recommended it for its epic-ness, but it can also be very chaotic. Plus I think they don't do reservations, so getting a group of 10+ through the door might be a challenge.
Maybe H4C? Chien Fumant? Maison Boulud? Or book the big table at Lawrence..

I had the same thought, tricky for a group. I was thinking this brunch looked pretty epic when I checked out the site recently, http://www.lacabane.ca/

That's looks epic indeed! ... unfortunately my birthday brunch will be the weekend after they shut down.

... this is a great excuse to make my husband take me out for something this weekend though.... ;)

I'd love to hear how it is if you do go!

Lawrence has a "big table"? Ooooh, that just might do the trick....

I do adore APDC, but there's no way we'd get 10+ in there, fed, and back out within a reasonable baby-sitting window. Sigh.

Yes, and unlike smaller groups a large group can reserve at Lawrence for brunch (at least the last time I checked).

However, now it seems that H4C is getting solid recommendations.. but really both restaurants offer an exceptional brunch.

H4C, i just try it last sunday and i was wowed! Everything was well executed with taste and great ingredients.

I had the sweetbread and my gf the bénédictine (serve with a large slice of bacon that first look dry and too much, but finally was very much appreciate!). We end the brunch with the donughts, that are huge but i guess it can be a quality. All that with a Vinho Verde at an ok price. We left happy.

H4C is great! I went three times with three different friends and they all loved it!

Wow, H4C was not even on my radar, that's how out-of-touch I've been. I adore that they have "Confiture!" with an exclamation mark on the brunch menu. That makes me want jam RIGHT NOW.

        3. I second Lawrence. I've made resos for large groups before.

If you want something really off the beaten path and different, Coin Méchoui in Chateauguay for an epic Egyptian family-style brunch is pretty incredible.

          1. Someone suggested I try Maison Christian Faure. Anyone had any experience with their brunch? Apparently they have a private room, too.
