Hilton Head for a group of duffers
6 couples are going to Hilton Head for a golf vacation. I've read about some of the finer dining restaurants but would also like some recommendations for places with local fare where we can eat, stay for a longer while without being rushed, have some drinks without breaking the bank. Wise Guys seems like it may fit the bill but are there others you could suggest? Also, are there any BYOB restaurants in Hilton Head that have reasonable food? Lastly, any nightlife worth partaking for a group of 60 year olds that feel like they're 30? Thanks for helping us arrange a memorable vacation.
Wise Guys indeed! And Frankie Bones is right next door.
Also, the Boathouse on Skull Creek (on Squire Pope Road, north end). $3.00 Bloody Marys at weekend brunch.
For good thin crust wood fired pizza try Il Carpaccio in Pineland Station (mid island). Also very good Italian at very reasonable prices.
Another favorite is Bistro 17 in Shelter Cove (across from Palmetto Dunes). Outdoor dining with a close up view of the harbor.
Most places will allow BYOWine with a corkage fee. (Not booze.)
Since I live here I'm not too into night life, but Reilly Plaza (near the Sea Pines gate) features four restaurants and an outdoor fireplace in the center of it all. Reilley's, Hilton Head Brewing Co., One Hot Mama's and Jump and Phil's compete until late.
Since no one else seems to be responding, I'll offer my real favorite! Drive 45 minutes to Beaufort to enjoy Griffin Market, right downtown. A sort of goofy name for, IMO, the best Italian restaurant in SC. Look at their website for times. They have a four course special Sunday evenings.
Distinctive food, good prices and (I'm not kidding) a million dollar wine collection in this tiny place. Ask to see it.
