no more recipes?

It just occurred to me that I haven't received a new recipe for weeks. Is Chow no longer emailing them? What gives? Thanks.

  1. Hi EllisW.

Thanks for checking in. You're right, we're not currently publishing the Recipe of the Day newsletter.

I have to believe that decision is a bad one. I am not a chef or professional in the industry- I just love to cook. I cannot tell you how many times I have forwarded a recipe from Chowhound to several others upon receipt.
Whomever manages your webdata should examine this question. You many have sacrificed a form of contact hat was very useful to your SEO.

    2. The list of new recipes on the bottom of the page hasn't changed in months. Also the product reviews. Supertaster is gone. I suspect the site is doing less of the things that I like, but I'm not paranoid. I'm not. No, I'm not.

      1. Chow closed down its test kitchen and laid off its food editors. Here's the announcement that it no longer publishes original recipes.

        1. I read your announcement of 12/10/13. It sounds like corporate gobbledeegook. No one cuts a successful product unless the business is going in a different direction. Why not ask professional members to contribute recipes? If not daily you could release them weekly.

Chowhound, for me, was like the Consumers Reports of recipes. There are sooo many crap ones out there but CH's were always reliable and top quality.

This was an important draw for the non-professional follower. I guess you're content being a trade mag.

I didn't know about this, so thanks. Although, between Food52 and Epicurious, I have plenty of recipes. What I liked about the Chow daily emails was the random unpredictability of them, as well as the fact that they called for ingredients and skill I was comfortable with.

I never got the emails myself but I do follow CHOW on Facebook and they do still post links to recipes (older recipes but usually stuff I haven't seen before) and I get a lot of good ideas from the posts and yes, the random unpredictability of them is part of what I also enjoy!

Are you still posting new ones on CH and just not emailing them out?
