settebello MDR BAR happy hour news

westsidegal Mar 24, 2014 11:33 PM

it appears that in addition to the normal happy hour deals at settebello, during the hour after the kitchen closes and before the bar closes they will also offer their BAR happy hour prices (i.e. tonight normal happy hour ended at 7 but the BAR happy hour started at 10 and continued to 11)

for a nice bar with plenty of free, safe, well-lit parking, this is a tremendous deal.
all wines by the glass $3 discount from their normal price
(their normal wine by the glass price is about $7 to $10, so their happy hour wbtg price is about $4 to $7)
some special happy hour cocktails.
tried a new-to-me gin there tonight that i liked FORDS

more and more, it's getting hard to find a reason to hit up other bars.

      Good question.

I do need a couple of blind date joints.

if you're proud to be seen with the date it's terrific.
there is no "hidden seating" if you know what i mean.

      Sounds good. Gin martinis ?

Wow. I always thought it was just beer and wine.

they offer both hard liquor and wine.
abbreviated wine list, mostly italian, reasonably priced.

Wait a sec - I just realized there's a Settebello in Pasadena! (Much closer to me.)

Do you know if they have the same specials there?

Hey Westside gal, what has your experience been with their pies? ive been once and was very pleased...an excellent VPN pie. Have you been to Grimaldi's...had another great sausage and onion pie yesterday...it was darker and crisper yesterday than before but right now, my favorite pie in LA!

Darker and Cripser you say ?????

Ok. I'll make a return visit to Grimaldis El Segundo.

Kevin, you might want to request a bit well done...ive gotten pies with slightly different degrees of "char" though all have been excellent!

settebello works for me in so many ways that i've been stuck there since it opened.

keep meaning to go to grimaldi's, but my car seems to be on autopilot to MDR. . . .

just tried a pie at Grimaldi's.
to my palate, not as good as settebello, 800 degrees, nor stella barra.

Me and the GF went here during Happy Hour on Thursday night. It just so happened to be the day that this location received it's VPN certification.

From the Happy Hour menu, we ordered the Misto and Polpette to share, and also shared a Margherita DOC off the regular menu.

I had a Sprite and the GF had a cocktail. We got out of there for $36 and change before tip.

                Not bad!
