really good, low-sodium dinner near sfo

A long-lost cousin is meeting us for dinner--he'll be staying @ an airport hotel before flying out of SFO.

It's up to us to choose the restaurant.

When I asked for likes/dislikes, he said he used to love everything, but is now on a low-sodium diet, so when he goes out to eat, he orders things like a piece of fish, simply prepared.

I was all set to choose among the great Chinese or Japanese places in Millbrae/Burlingame/San Mateo. Now I'm stumped. Thoughts re where to take him?

  1. i have ordered in chinese places in the past 'low sodium', and the dishes arrive as such (as long as they doesn't contain advanced prepared components). of course, they also taste 'low sodium'.

That's unfortunately not going to work in this case. Other ideas appreciated!

        some ideas:
Sashimi- since you dip the fish into the soy sauce, you can control the sodium level

I have not been but would higher end places like Wakuriya be more restrained with their salt? similarly, i also think that higher end chinese banquet restaurants don't necessarily douse all their dishes with salt, especially lighter dishes such as the steamed dishes (e.g. steamed live seafood), and fat like dives sometimes do.

    2. Kincaid's is a boring chain restaurant but they do a decent job of grilling fish.

      1. How about New England lobster company?
