what comerical are you seeing?

Ok.. so I get all excited because I see the iconic Austin postcard mural and Chef Nubu and he goes to Franklins Barbque...It is an American express comercial... Then I think...Oh I bet this is a regional thing everbody else is seeing something that matches where live.

  1. I have been seeing that in the SF Bay Area.

I don't think she specifically means on the site...I see that commercial all the time, and I live in Michigan. There's also one with Sue Zemanick in Miami - they're Chase Sapphire commercials, not American Express. :) They seem to be run a LOT during food-oriented programming, but I don't think they're at all regional.

Not sure why we'd be discussing ads on sites other than CH. But thanks for the heads up.

Not other sites. On TV. Which is...media. :)

Wahooty, I still don't have a clue why this has CH relevance. You're going to explain this to me, right? :)

Well, the commercial shows a famous chef, eating famous BBQ in Austin. The Miami one also has a lot of slow-mo action shots of delicious-looking food. I actually think GOTW's question about whether these commercials are regional was an interesting one...it's pretty clear they aren't regional to those of us who don't live anywhere near Austin, but I might wonder if I always saw one highlighting Michigan delights with a chef from, say, San Francisco. A commercial for a non-food product that is clearly meant to appeal to food-oriented people seems like a reasonable topic for a "Food Media and News" board to me, but to each their own.

I agree. We discuss commercials on this board all the time. I wonder why @c oliver thinks this post is something different?

I see both of those Chase Sapphire ads as well; I live in metro NYC. I've always thought that some ads you see are national (they go with the show, no matter where you are) and some local (clearly the ones with terrible production values by the car dealership 5 miles away)

            1. re: DGresh

You can always tell the local "spot" commericals, there's a little beeping sound before they start. The first ones are always the network's.

          3. I see it here in Colorado.

            1. We see it in PA. Have not seen other versions people are mentioning below.

              1. Not regional. Both the Nubu and Zemanick commercials run in the Philadelphia area as well. As noted by others, I can only recall seeing them when watching food-related shows.

yes I only see it while watching "food" type shows too.. but I think it is cool that people everywhere are seeing "our" Franklins..it is kind of an "Austin" thing... Now I want to see others from all over the country...

I just hope the Geico "cheesesteak shuffle" commercial is local.

Ugh. I dream of the day Philly will be seen as more than just the home of Pat's and Geno's (we do have fine dining and world-class museums dontcha' know ;)

                2. I have seen it if Florida. Franklin rocks!
                  And, keep Austin weird....:)

I have to say that here in NW Arkansas I've never seen this commercial, but do see the Sue Zemanick one:

Whoops! 10 minutes after I posted this, there's the Nobu commercial. So there we go.
