  1. I didn't live here then, but was it a Bishop's Buffet?

I remember the Bishop's Buffet at HarMar.

    2. Does the old Smorgasbord count? I believe that faced White Bear Avenue and was just to the right of the main entrance.

      1. Silly, maybe, but could it be York Steakhouse? They were at Ridgedale Mall at that time--yummy buttered rolls and their baked potatoes were my favorite. Bishop's Buffet had more of a true buffet, with the salads and more meat options than the beef options that seemed to dominate at York Steakhouse. Bishop's at Knollwood was our favorite spot to go with the grandparents--you could choose as much or as little as you wanted. I miss them!

        1. I was very young at the time, so my memory may be off, but I think there was a branch of the Forum Cafeteria at Maplewood Mall at the time.

          1. yes, York Steakhouse was at the northeast entrance of maplewood mall. It's now occupied by Barnes and Noble (the top floor portion).

I remember in the '80s my mom would take us kids out and we'd go to there. It's my earliest memory of the "numbers" to order. #4, I think was the steak burger, or something like that. Many years later the fast food industry would catch on.

At the center of Maplewood Mall was the food court - the food court has since moved to the 2nd floor. Basin Robbins was one of my fondest memories of the food court.
