Old Country Store in Lorman (takeout?)

  • 2

Perhaps an odd question...

My wife and I will be driving across country this summer w/ our two dogs. In between cities, we are taking note of stop-worthy places and I came upon the Old country store in Lorman during my research of places between Nashville and New Orleans.

My question is this... we can't leave our dogs in the car in the summer heat for any places that we are stopping in between cities, and was curious if there is an option to get takeout plates from this place to eat by our car in the shade somewhere. It looks terrific - hope this is an option.

Thanks for your replies,
Matt

  1. Don't worry, they will work out something. I've never been there with dogs, but I seem to recall there being plenty of shady places where you would be able to enjoy your fod and your pets.. The man who runs the place is nice enough to where I am sure he will work to accommodate. Enjoy!

    1. Not sure about the take out option but I would like to recommend a site seeing stop near Lorman. If you're going to take the time to go all the way to Lorman, spend an extra 30 min & go see the Ruins of Windsor which are very close to the Old Country Store. If you decide to take that route to NO, stay on Hwy 61 S. all the way to Baton Rouge. You'll go through Natchez, a well known "antebellum" city here in MS. Visit the Dunleith Plantation & eat at their restaurant The Castle or spend the night there, its an excellent B&B. Not sure if they're pet friendly though, but they do have a website
