French Macaroons - alternative to Bottega Louie?

Hi all - any alternate sources for French Macaroons? I love the ones at Bottega Louie but at about $2.50 each the cost adds up pretty quickly. Are there any better 'bang for the buck' options out there?

  1. There are other threads on this subject, if you search it - but I'll echo what I've written before: Belwood Bakery in Brentwood has the best in town.

    2. That cost is average to low for good macaroons. I think they're $3 each at 'Lette in Beverly Hills, which are my favorites. I also know that Bouchon does some good ones, but I'm unsure on the price.

      1. I like 'lette better than Bottega Louie. They good "bang for buck" at <$2 each. (I don't know if there's something different about the BH location that makes them more expensive than the other stores.) I like Bouchon's better than BL also, but they are around the same price.

        1. First time I hear Bottega Louie and googled them. They seem nice. How are these compared to Laduree? This time i shopped laduree it was about 3.5usd each or 2.5 euros each in boxes of 6 and 14.

They do not compare to Laduree at all.

Agree with Porthos... Not even in the same ballpark.

            2. Lette Macarons in Little Tokyo.
              $1.85/each.

Ugh. Every time I have been to the Lette in Little Tokyo, I have left disappointed. Their macarons are consistently gummy in texture and just overall left me with a bad taste in my mouth (har, har).
