Does anyone know where I can find unwaxed produce, especially tomatoes, in Toronto? I grow my own in summer, but that's not so much use at this time of year. From what I can find, organics are waxed too.
No disrespect, because I admire your desire, but do what your Grandma and Grandpa did (if they lived north of 37 degrees latitude).
Preserve what you want, and eat fresh what is in season. If you live near Toronto, you shouldn't be eating a fresh tomato now.

I totally agree, however around this time of year desperation starts to set in ;-).
I wash my produce in warm water and then soak it in 50/50 water and vinegar and believe the wax is all gone. I mean, there's only as much as you can do.
And next year, try to get some things from farmer's market for freezing. I still have some corn, kale, beans, tomatillo salsa and a few other things in the freezer. Sure, it's not as good as fresh, but it's good enough for March.
