Tartine-quality bread in Chicago

lemonseleven Mar 20, 2014 08:34 AM

Having visited a friend who lives around the corner from Tartine Bakery in San Francisco several times over the last few years, I have become enamored (obsessed?) with their bread, particularly the sesame loaf. To be honest, I have barely explored bakeries in Chicago, and I was wondering if anyone had tips on where look for bread that can satisfy my craving for a perfectly textured, flavorful loaf between trips?

Try Cellar Door Provisions (Logan Square; 3025 W. Diversey); Justin makes some of the best bread I have had in Chicago and if I recall correctly, he did some training at Tartine Bakery. They have limited hours - so check their Facebook page out for details.
