Hello,

Has anyone been to new ho king recently? What has your experience been like? How would you rank it in terms of Westernized Chinese food?

Thanks

    1. re: disgusti

I used to go to the Ho King when on Dundas Street near Spadina, don't know who owns the New Ho King. For the day both simply good dishes, and have only been to the new one once when after having seen the performance of legendary blues harpist/singer Lazy Lester. The food was even more appreciative at 2 a.m.

    2. Their fried things are pretty fried and sometimes have sauce on them.

      1. I haven't been there recently but some things are standard.

They've got a big western clientel so if youre talking about old school fake chinese food, this place is pretty good.

I've had the fried rice, chicken wings are ok, maybe really big wings. The egg rolls are very good (of course I just like the outside wrapper, and chicken balls are ok I think.

        1. Best cantonese chow mein in the city IMHO. Never tasted another like it

          1. I love their house fried rice.
Some of the best westernized chinese in Chinatown.

            1. I hate to admit it here, but I order from them at least twice a month. I have never dined in. The food is fairly reliable. I would say that once every 5-6 orders there is something like a dried up spare rib, or oily satay beef noodle. I think their soups are above average and even though I often swear when it takes the delivery guy an hour to show up, I keep going back, cause the food is tasty.
