Meatos coming to Queens NY in May

I passed by the closed down Chateau on Union Turnpike and saw a sign that Meatos (מיתוס), from Tel Aviv, will be taking it over.

While I doubt that goose foie gras will be on the menu, I'm hoping to enjoy much of its modern Israeli style cuisine soon.

  1. I'm not familiar with the restaurant, but I could probably be persuaded to consider a hamburger that contains goose liver. :-)

    But that name. Honestly...

Yes, the Israeli menu does offer a hamburger with goose liver!

As for the name, what can I say? They love meat. :) But it is also a play on the Greek word Mythos (It looks better in Hebrew)

How was your meal? Prices? They still opened?

      2. They should rename this place MEATHEADS.
We came in a party of 6, expecting to have a great meal.
Not enough staff, our Waitress was clueless.
They had no steak on a bone left!!!!
But they have "RibSteak", then she tells me there is no Bone on it!!!!
They recruited the "areilim" dishwashers as waiters so they could deliver all our cold steaks at once.
There was nothing else on the plates with our steak, the waitress admitted that they ran out of the veggies that are regularly included!!!
They forgot to bring some of the items we ordered!!.
Great purpose built location, but these owners must be losers, there is no quality control, whenever they run out of their startup cash, this place will close.

I tried it on their second day after opening (August). I didn't want to say anything about it at the time because I felt maybe I tried it too soon but yeah. It was just as you've described and I see nothing has changed after all this time.
Just take a look at the website.

What you get is nothing at all like that.

Restaurants have to get their act together on day 1 because that's when motivation is at its peak.

I miss Chateau. Don't know what happened and was only there once but at least the food that we had was good and more interesting than a late steak on a plate.
