South African

I'm trying to give a friend who lives in NYC a taste from home. Where can one find some South African delicacies/bakery items/candy/food AND a large selection of South African wine (have found that most wine shops have maybe 2-5 tops of each a red and a white). Thanks

Is that the same as bobotie? If so, yes, Braai:

Yes, thanks very much. My spelling was from an old recipe found in a cookbook 40 years ago. I had it in South Africa a few weeks ago, but hadn't seen it here (they topped it with custard, rather than egg).

            2. This might not check all your boxes, but Tolani on the UWS pours lots of South African wines and even makes its own biltong as part of a fairly eclectic menu.
