Casual French Bistro that allows kids in midtown?

Looking for a recommendation--lunch at a French bistro that allows babies (10 months), preferably one that serves a a good hanger steak

    1. I don't know if it's inconvenient for you but Tournesol is a French bistro, one stop from Grand Central and it has great hangar steak among other things. It's a kid friendly restaurant.

PS - If you go to Tournesol just be aware they only take AMEX or cash. The food is extremely reasonable.

oh wait, its in Long Island....may be too hard...

It's not in Long Island, it's in Queens. 6 minutes from Grand Cenral :)

        3. Le Relais de Venise L'entrecote, Le Bateau Ivre and Matisse are restaurants that I know that are closest to Grand Central. They are all casual and should be ok with 10 months...though the first one does have a large business clientele during lunch but it's big enough and I have seen children in there. latter two are casual enough...more like neighborhood joints.

          1. Artisinal is about 10 blocks south of grand central, I've seen plenty of kids there before. Be sure to order the gougeres

*cringe* not saying this because of the Manhattan board comment but I had a really mediocre meal at Artisanal recently. I've been going for years and I think it's totally declined. That's why I didn't recommend it.

The server upsold me on truffle butter, asked me "would you like mayonnaise with your fries" I said yes not knowing he was referring to the truffle mayonnaise, bad truffle mayonnaise and an additional $3.50. Service was distracted, inattentive and food was mediocre. The hangar steak I've had at Tournesol was definitely better.

                  which do you like best:

                  1. re: abbydh

I haven't been to Marseilles or Matisse so I can't comment. I personally would go to Tournesol because I feel Balthazar is really overpriced.

                2. Le Parisien ,Les Halles and L'Express are not far from GC. A pleasant walk with a stroller if the weather is nice.
