Red Fox Cheese in LA

I became rather obsessed with this cheese when TJ's carried it. They don't anymore and I can't find it anywhere online. Has anybody been able to find it in LA?

  1. Are you sure it's not still there?

I could swear I saw Red Leicester just 2 or 3 weeks ago. I would think any good cheese monger should have it.

    Call ahead.

They have a Red Leicester with a few other add ins that isn't as good. The Red Fox is a bit different that reg Red Leicester. I called a few cheese stores and no luck.

Very interesting. The wedges I had bought there over the last couple of months were excellent and a little different. i loved them.

I just noticed this though: that Trader Joe's Red Fox is a Limited Edition. Found here:

I think that meant limited edition at TJs. Per their website it seems that Belton is still making Red Fox, I was hoping someone else carried it. I like the reg Red Leicester as well but I LOVE the crunchy bits in the red fox.

    2. I saw it a few days ago at Trader Joe's on Olympic and Barrington - my favorite T J's

ok cool, maybe they brought it back or something. The on in ER told me it was gone for good.

      2. Around my family I'm known as PJSOS. I find Googling fun. Here's a contact that should help:

Red Fox is distributed, in the US, by Anco Fine Cheese. This site shows their distribution network with contact info. One is in LA. -

Thanks, I had found that site but I hadn't actually gotten on the phone with them yet. I was hoping hounds might have just seen it at a local cheese store. I'll call them though.

        2. I stopped by TJ's and bought more of what I bought last time.

In big letters it says: WITH CHILI AND RED BELL PEPPERS and it is laced with lots and lots of pepper flakes and flesh.

It is delicious. I have attached a photo I took of my purchase and it was bought in Silverlake where they had lots of it.

A bad photo next to reading light:
