Good Chinese (sorry for the generalization in advance) in Chinatown/DTLA

I'm looking for a good chinese restaurant, however I can't say I know much about specific regions and how they vary by cuisines, so Im really open to different ideas. Its for a birthday celebration, but its just for two people. Something intimate would be nice, but not a prereq. They do need to be open tonight however. I was looking at something like Peking Tavern, but the reviews are all over the place. Getting back to a more specific request, the interested party would like dishes that are probably quick fried proteins, if that helps with any possibilities. So if that means a more americanized version, so be it, but again, Im very open and grateful for any suggestions. Thank you.

  1. Peking Tavern is open.
    Otherwise, good Cantonese at CBS.

    1. Ocean Seafood offers a pleasant decor for a birthday dinner. Basically it's Cantonese seafood.

      1. Hop Li fits the bill.

        1. I like Peking Tavern. For what it is.

          Might also consider Chynna.
