Fresh mozz smells like...perfume?
This is an issue that's been bugging me for a while...
We buy fresh salted mozz from a grocer a few times a month, and after a few days it smells like perfume. It's NOT sour and doesn't smell spoiled, and it tastes fine but it has a very floral, perfume-y scent. We usually don't store it in-brine and just re-wrap it in the same saran wrap that it came in.
I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this! I googled and saw results about it going rancid, but it doesn't smell rancid at all... it just smells weird! Beyond "throw it away, it's suboptimal," does anyone have this experience?
