Can you include the state in posts like "where to eat in Long Beach"

??I don't see LA area specified without clicking on it, and there's a Long Beach here, too.

  1. Confused by your post. If you're asking if its ok with the mods to put the state in the title of a post, then I'm sure the answer is yes.

But, are you in fact attempting to encourage other posters to put the state in the title of their posts? And are you specifically referencing the California board versus the Los Angeles board? I don't know where "here" is.

NY vs. CA, sorry I wasn't clear.

I do not see CA or LA without opening the thread first.

You exemplified the problem in the body of your own OP.
CHs should *always* mention where "here" is. There's nothing to stop any poster from including the state, country, or region in their title, except their own failure to consider what the reader can't tell by the post title.

At one point, a box on the right side of the page listed the most recent handful of new threads, including the board to which they were posted. I've repeatedly suggested adding that info now that what was once in a larger box (replaced by the Trending Now box) is a shorter list, consisting of newest posts as opposed to newest threads,
in the gray area at the foot of the page, but the request has fallen on deaf ears.

    2. Don't you see the name of the board (LA Area, NY State, etc.) under the title of the thread in the discussions list? That's how it is on all of my devices.

Once people choose the right board to post in, I don't see the necessity of repeating the city/state/regional info in the title of the thread.

No, I only saw it after clicking on it. I kept checking. It says home-site talk-chowhound. I woudn't have asked if LA area appeared, I agree that if it shows as an LA board, there's no need to add CA to the subject header. :-)

Now I'm even more confused...the Site Talk Board doesn't have any regional posts on it, unless someone posted it there by accident, in which you should flag it so the mods can move it.

Otherwise, on the "front page" (Chowhound Discussions), the name of the board is right under the post title. And obviously, if you're on the NY Board, none of the posts will be about California.

On which board are you experiencing the issue?

Copied and pasted from the top of my page. Yes, it's features, but I never go to blog posts nor read any here, it appears in my CH post list.

      2. I believe mcf is referring to this blog post and discussion, which appears on the Features board, as well as in the footer of the site:

mcf, I've passed your feedback on to the editorial team. Thanks for your report.

Thanks for confirming that I'm only, say, 95% daft and doddering. ;-)

Oh OK, Features board. In that case the title could be more specific. At least this title actually contains some pertinent information. I'm more annoyed by things like "First time visitors, help needed!!! lol" and "Has this happened to anyone else?" etc. But those don't generally come from CHOW staff.
