Tamal de Chipilin? Oaxacan Origin

Does anyone know of any authentic places in the bay area to get Tamal de Chipilin? Would it be available this time of year or could it be seasonal? Intending to visit the area the last half of March and would really love to get a fix!

  1. The Sabor de San Miguel food cart, often found at at the SoMa StrEat Food park, has it. I think it's listed as "Veggie Tamale" but the description confirms that it has chipilin in it.

According to a Y*lp search, Palacio Latino on Mission St. has it as well, as does La Chapina in San Mateo.

    1. Comal has had chepil.

      1. I had one at the Guelaguetza fiesta in Santa Rosa last June. Here's what it looked like,

        1. Universal Bakery *might* do one, though I don't think it's on the menu. They do tamales de chuchito which are found at San Miguel as well, so I wonder if they could make a tamal de chipilin on request.

Have any CHs been to Palacio Latino lately? Those are some pretty good reviews on Yelp and I always overlook some of those greasy-spoon-looking Mission spots.

          1. I was at the SoMa StrEatFood Park yesterday and the Sabor de San Miguel food cart was still featuring them. You can check the latest vendor deployment here:
