Finally got the inside of my thermal coffeepot carafe clean, clean, clean!

I may be the last one to discover this, but out of desperation I dropped a dishwasher tablet in my carafe and filled it with near-boiling water. After a couple hours, all the staining was gone.

A coworker tipped me to that many years ago, for my glass-lined coffee thermos. It actually doesn't take much, just a tbsp powdered dishwasher detergent for a pint thermos is ample, and a 5minute soak using hot tap water will do the trick.

Like I said, I'm probably the last one to know it. I really need to crawl out from under my rock more often. lol.

I appreciate you mentioning it. I needed to serve half n half in a stainless coffee carafe to a huge crowd recently and fretted over the stains inside for two days. Never did get it bright; no one saw it, but I'd have felt much better if it was not stained.

I do a weekly soak with hot water and a scoop of Oxyclean powder. Pour into Contigo travel mugs to soak afterward, rinse.
