Romantic/sexy restaurants in Montreal?

  • 4

I am looking for a romantic, sexy restaurant in Montreal for a date I have in February. A high standard of food and service but with a romantic/sexy atmosphere, booths maybe, candles (low light), soft music...maybe jazz....a place where you can talk privately but people are also part of the scenery.
Please help me with suggestions.

Soto on McGill in Old Montreal fits that bill - hip, great food, but also there it is lit and spaced so that there is some privacy. I prefer this location to the St. Laurent one.
I would also like some other suggestions - as I have a VERY important weekend coming up and would like to find restos that fall into the romantic with privacy-with great food-but still somewhat trendy arena. On these first dates I think places like Area, Globe and Toque are just too "public" the way the tables are set up.

How about Maestro SVP, on St. Laurent? My boyfriend took me there on our first date. He got lucky...what better endorsement for a date restaurant do you need? I recommend the raw oysters.

Fondu Mentale is another good choice for sensual food, and a classy yet vibrant atmosphere. I think it's on St. Denis, but I could be wrong.

Thanks Lindsay, that is a great endorsement!! This will not be our first date but.... I do want to dress up, flirt, tease and generally drive my boy friend to distraction.... he is guaranteed a good time! But, I do want a very good restaurant with the right atmosphere. We are visiting from out of town and it is a special date.

I do appreciate your recommendation. We will try it.
