Based on the ratings place that begins with "Y".

On the other hand, most of the places mentioned there are generally liked by the more discerning crowd here - right?

Some of them I hadn't even heard of...

huh, not such a complete disaster. I love Alforon and Sushi Ota is kind of the cheer camp choice, but I've had some decent meals there.

I'm happy Alforon made it. It's a tiny, tasty treasure.

We still haven't been to Oscar's. I must do something about that.

Alforon was one of the ones I hadn't heard of. It's not too far from home, maybe I should go check it out

Simply confirms that Californian's like to use Yelp.

With that said, I have no issues with Yelp, it's simply one resource like this forum.

Kinda a mish mash list. I really don't know what to make of it. There were some fancy upscale places in NYC like Per Se and then we have our SD restaurants. Yoishino's up in Carlsbad is ok, but it resides in a different galaxy than some of the other rated places. Sorry DD I couldn't pull up your link so I didn't read the story, and any insights the author had, but I went to "Y" website and found the list.

No, it was just a slide show of the Top 8

Interesting. . .I don't know if I'd pick any of those places (though I haven't been to Alforon or Oscar's).

Oh great, another load of crap from UT in co-ordination with Yelp. Wow, I'm impressed, not!

Now how can the UT possibly reduce all of Yelps nation wide reviews in categories, from across the entire country, and say places in SD are among the best 100, really. IMO, the UT should rely on the CH SD board for quality advice. OK, rant over, I'm beginning to sound like FN. Time for more coffee.

It's lonely under this bus under which I've been undeservingly thrown.
