2 Nights in Memphis & 3 Nights in Nashville

I'm looking for the best 2 restaurants in Memphis and best 3 in Memphis. I'm not looking for something upscale. Some thoughts I have in Memphis are Restaurant Iris, Flight, and Andrew Michael. In Nashville, maybe Etch, Flyte, City House, Capitol Grille and Catbird Seat. I would love your thoughts on those and other places. Thanks so much.

  1. Catbird Seat is probably the premier dining destination in Nashville. Multiple courses and one set price. Wine/drink pairings are additional. Reservations need to be made a month in advance.
City House, Etch, and Flyte are all great options. You might also consider 404 Kitchen and Rolf & Daughters in Nashville.

Thanks, Pete. I will try to get a reservation at Catbird Seat.

Pete, just wanted to let you know that I set my alarm for 1:00 a.m. this morning and I managed a 7:15 reservation at Catbird Seat. Thanks for the info.

+1 to everything pete k recommended.

Really recommend Flyte if you enjoy wine.

I had a great meal at Flight on my last trip there. Highly recommended.

      3. So sorry. I meant to say that I AM looking for something upscale!!

        1. Iris and Andrew Michael are very good thoughts for Memphis. Flight is upscale and nice but not really my favorite for food. Erling Jensen is another very good upscale option - maybe not as trendy as some newer places but check it out. AM and Iris both generally require reservations a couple or 3 weeks in advance because they are small. EJ not as much. Interim, Felicia Suzanne's, and Tsunami other places you might consider.

          1. Bari in Memphis is an awesome coastal Italian restaurant. If you're feeling adventurous - do their cheese tasting menu. (It must be ordered ahead of time). They've got a great wine list and a very talented bartender. For a casual lunch, go to DejaVu for authentic New Orleans food.

Consider Lockeland Table, Husk and Kayne Prime also in Nashville.

            1. Iris is a must, but call for reservations, for sure. It's a small restaurant and one of the best in Memphis, so it stays full! We have a Capitol Grille here as well. Andrew Michael and their sister restaurant Hog & Hominy get nothing but love in the press (I've yet to be to either) and I like Tsunami and Sweet Grass.

I also suggest Dejavu for lunch! It's my favorite place to take out of town guests.
