No more beef cheek at Banh Mi Boys! :(

Just went to BMB for some amazing baos and tacos (and kimchi fries), and was dismayed to learn that they no longer offer beef cheek. It's just "braised beef" now. Apparently this changed 2-3 weeks ago because they can't "get" cheeks anymore...?
'Wish I had known - I would for sure have eaten more of the beef cheeks in recent months!!

    Ask if they can get beef lips, those have not become trendy yet!

      saw those in San Sebastian. did not turn me on. collagen for dinner? no thanks.

      of course, what do i know? all i know is bbq that's a 30 min drive away, right? ;)

        atomeyes, I don't mind that you like that BBQ at all. I just don't think it should be called a 30 minute drive as that is extremely optimistic. These days, it can take 15 mins or more to get to the 401 from the DVP/Don Mills Rd onramp. Google indicate that right now at 8:55 pm time to the Whitby location is 40 mins, and 49 to the Oshawa location. I find those times accurate, and I am definitely not a slow driver.

        I know - beef cattle are now cheek-less??
        Anyway I am so bummed, as I thought their beef cheek stuff was truly exceptional.
        Tried the braised beef tonight and it was nicely flavoured, but was nowhere close to that "wow" texture the cheeks had.

          I hope they can restore it at some point soon.

        I would guess since they're planning to open a new restaurant soon, it's a cost cutting measure to help provide funds for their new venture.

            which BMB did you go to OP? do you know if it's "chain-wide"?

            i've been to BMB many times, but always go for the chicken bao and squid tacos. really regretting not getting the cheeks when they were available.

              I was at the Queen site (their overhead menu is already changed, FYI) but the young woman behind the counter said it applied to both locations.

              Why BMB? Just walk down Dundas/Spadina and pick up the real stuff for a quarter the price!
